Our son dressed up as a giraffe, which was a big hit among zoo employees and other visitors. We were getting all sorts of funny comments like “Oh no, one of the Giraffes escaped!” The Philadelphia Zoo has a baby giraffe right now, so it was fun to take pictures of my little Giraffe with the baby Giraffe at the zoo.

including items like Jungle Animal Crackers, Herr’s Baked Cheese Puffs, M&Ms, Snickers, Twix, Skittles, Starburst, a safety flashing light for nighttime trick or treating adventures and much more. The zoo was decorated for Halloween and it’s always fun to visit the animals too.
I’ll admit we received the full experience! I wish I could say we were spooked by a creepy sounding creature like the Vampire Bats…yeah, yeah that sounds good. But no, here’s what happened. We were casually strolling along exploring the rather dark nighttime room in the small mammal house and glanced in an exhibit that appeared to be empty. Suddenly a clever little weasel popped up out of nowhere repeatedly jumping up on the glass right in front of us making a squealing sound as he excitedly attempted to scurry up the side of the glass. We all jumped and yes even screamed a little. That little weasel looked quite pleased with himself and I suspect we weren’t the first visitors to be spooked by this little guy. Afterward we laughed so hard about being completely spooked by such a tiny enclosed creature. I guess we really got a Boo at the Zoo!
If you missed it last weekend, Boo at the Zoo is still being held this weekend Saturday October 23rd and Sunday October 24th from 10am to 4pm. All the extra festivities are included in the regular zoo admission price. It’s a fun day for the whole family.
