It was the moment of truth, time to give my very first haircut. I used a clipper guide comb that was slightly longer than the desired length, and made sure to take my time. The results were sheer success! We figured out the three best clipper shield lengths for the style haircut my husband likes and I use scissors to trim up the rest. As with anything else, with more experience (in this case each haircut) it becomes easier and now I’m very comfortable behind the clippers.
At least once a month, I cut my husband hair and plan to trim my baby boy’s hair as soon as it gets long enough. We’re glad we took the plunge and gave cutting our own hair a try. Although cutting your family’s hair may not be for everyone, there are some definite advantages and savings if you’re willing to give it a try:
At least once a month, I cut my husband hair and plan to trim my baby boy’s hair as soon as it gets long enough. We’re glad we took the plunge and gave cutting our own hair a try. Although cutting your family’s hair may not be for everyone, there are some definite advantages and savings if you’re willing to give it a try:
- Save Money – No recurring cost or tipping required. Only the upfront equipment cost and electric to power the clippers.
- Save Gas – No need to drive anywhere to get a haircut.
- Predictable Results – When the same person gives a haircut each time it yields consistent results. If you go to a salon in the mall, you can get a different stylist each time and never know what you’re going to get!
- Clean Sanitary Equipment – Your family are the only people using the clippers, scissors, cape, and accessories.
- Save Time/Very Convenient - No need to schedule an appointment. Get haircuts when it’s convenient for you, even late at night or early in the morning when some barber shops and hair stylists are closed.
Time Saving Tip: When the weather is nice, you can give a haircut outside making cleanup even faster and easier.
